ABOUT THE SWAY OF RIVERS

This concert celebrates the record release of The Sway of Rivers. It's  a departure from the music that Matt has previously written. It grew out of the year (+) that we all spent at home from 3/2020 onward. The songs are all acoustic and have lyrics that Matt wrote (and sings). The band is an oddball collection of instruments played by some of the most creative musicians around: 2 guitars, 3 drummers, 2 singers, violin and clarinet/sax.

"I wanted to make it sound like a live field recording. It’s folky, freeform, singer-songwriter, earthy stuff.  I got my friends together in a beautiful sounding room and recorded all of it in one go, with minimal post production. No reverb. No overdubs. Nothing fancy. I just love the way it came out. I hope you dig it."

The band for this concert features:

Matt Davis, voice, guitar
Sam Rise, voice
James Melton, guitar
Eugen Kim, violin
Jon Thompson, tenor sax and bass clarinet
Doug Hirlinger, drums + percussion
Trevor Rogers, drums + percussion
